An experienced “intrapreneur” in business and product development, Martin has been closely involved in five business sales and refinancings.

His functional specialisms are in sales and marketing and in the exploitation of intellectual property.

Prior to managing the High Wycombe and Aylesbury Vale Enterprise Hubs, Martin was a board director of vehicle information providers HPI, joining the business in 1998 to re-launch its products and prepare it for sale. He continued as a Director and shareholder, leaving after its purchase by Aviva (Norwich Union).

Martin's early career was in consumer journalism before moving to an early stage PR and marketing consultancy, subsequently becoming a director and shareholder and managing multilingual projects.

At the start of the 1990s he moved in-house to Transax, the cheque guarantee company, where he became Sales and Marketing Director, launching overseas subsidiaries and diversified into card-based services. He supported the sale of Transax to Equifax plc, the credit referencing organisation, and sold its tax-free shopping subsidiary prior to moving into market development roles in retail and e-commerce.
