Experience
Ray is a creative entrepreneur with experience of starting and growing international businesses. He has extensive experience in the SME sector, in particular relating to funding, international distribution, R&D, and technology transfer, working with early stage technology companies in Yorkshire and the South East. Ray has worked on the SEEDA Enterprise Hub programme since 2003, most recently as director of the Medway Enterprise Hub which focused primarily on the development of technology start-ups in the engineering and environmental sectors.

Ray is an electronic engineer who spent his early working years with the Marconi Company.  He joined Sonicaid, now part of the Huntleigh Healthcare Group, as a design engineer, and collaborated with leading clinicians in the UK and North America in the development of a range of high frequency ultrasonic diagnostic instruments. During this period he established the company’s vascular products division and provided front line support to the sales and marketing teams both in the UK and internationally.

Ray subsequently moved to the USA to gain additional experience in this field and worked as engineering and marketing vice president for Unigon, a leader in industrial frequency analysis technology, heading the newly formed medical division.

Returning to the UK he joined Huntleigh Ultrasonics as marketing manager, before starting his own business manufacturing a range of electronic patient monitoring products. Ray built a network of UK and overseas distributors for these products, establishing a strong international brand. He subsequently played a key role in securing significant funding for an M&A. After the merger Ray took full P&L responsibility for a newly formed operating division, with principal responsibility for product development and overseas marketing.
