The Solent Innovation and Growth Team would like to invite you to the third in our 2010 series of Breakfast Briefings being presented by the University of Portsmouth.
Martin Andrews takes a detailed look at the projects the University’s Project Office has been involved with since its creation in November 2008 and outlines the way that organisations can benefit from their expertise.
Working with the University’s Project Office gives business and public sector organisations access to original creative thought with the advantage of independent and honest interpretation.
Martin Andrews is a registered architect with the ARB and a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects. The Project Office at the University of Portsmouth has been formed as an architectural consultancy under the umbrella of the School of Architecture and aims to provide knowledge transfer, consultancy and research opportunities for full and part-time staff and students.
All of the University’s architecture staff are qualified architects or designers and many are still practising. The resources available to the Project Office include this wealth of staff knowledge, a CNC milling machine for making three-dimensional physical building models, architectural workshops and the expertise and equipment on offer in the structural engineering and technology focused departments. The resources available at the University are only usually offered by large multi-disciplinary practices, the University is making these resources available to small businesses, architects and public sector organisations.
