Introduction
Open Innovation can can be defined as Open-Minded Collaboration between organisations to find, combine and develop ideas to successfully exploit new opportunities.
Open Innovation allows companies to seek ideas, technologies and products from outside their organisation to exploit through partnering, licensing and purchasing. Likewise, internally developed ideas can often be better exploited outside through spinouts and other joint ventures.
Open Innovation is a key activity for the South East Business Innovation and Growth. The Thames Valley Innovation & Growth Team is leading a project across the SEEDA region and working with the other 7 Innovation and Growth Teams to identify and broker potential opportunities between the small and medium sized companies in our region and larger corporations.
How to get involved
To facilitate the identification of opportunities we will be using the Inngot database.
Martin Brassell of Inngot Limited explains: “Our key aim is to bring innovative ideas from SME clients to the attention of larger corporations. This is where Inngot comes in: it’s a new system which focuses on describing businesses according to the Intellectual Property they own. The Innovation and Growth Teams are going to be using Inngot to help us understand what clients have to offer from across the whole IGT network to other possible partner businesses.”
